PUTRAJAYA (12 APRIL 2021): The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) hasappointed Dzuleira Abu Bakar as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Technology Park MalaysiaCorporation Sdn Bhd (TPM).Dzuleira, who is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Malaysian Global Innovation and CreativityCentre (MaGIC), will assume her new role on 15 April 2021. She replaces En Che Akhma Ismail wholeft in February 2020. Following the departure of Che Akhma Ismail, TPM was helmed by SharbaniHarun, TPM’s Group Chief Financial Officer who was appointed as Acting Chief Executive Officer.“Dzuleira’s extensive involvement in the development of local tech start-ups and the innovationecosystem along with a background in venture capital, will be vital in transforming TPM andaccelerating commercialisation of technological and innovative solutions,” said Khairy Jamaluddin,Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation.Dzuleira’s move to TPM is part of MOSTI’s larger efforts to restructure and consolidate its agencies toensure that they are well positioned to execute the National Science, Technology and InnovationPolicy (DSTIN) and Malaysian Science Technology Innovation and Economic Development Framework(MySTIE 10-10).Khairy said in his first year at the helm of MOSTI, he has reviewed areas of priority which requiredGovernment interventions, starting with the commercialisation agenda.“We aim to speed up Malaysia’s transformation into an innovation-driven economy by acceleratingthe creation, development and commercialisation of technology and innovation.“Given the intense pace of change, the Government – and its policies and relevant executing agencies– must evolve as well. The restructuring and consolidation of agencies under MOSTI will achieveholistic support for commercialisation. We must collaborate and synergise towards achieving thelarger goal of becoming a high-tech and high-income nation,” he said.He added that MOSTI will share more details of its strategic consolidation in the coming weeks.TPM’s chairman YBhg Datuk Abdul Razak Abdul Rahman welcomed Dzuleira, saying that he isconfident that she would be able to bring about the necessary change to TPM in line with MOSTI’svision for the country’s state of technology & innovation.“I would also like to thank En Sharbani Harun for offering his leadership in the interim and the SeniorManagement of TPM for all the contribution and efforts in making TPM as one of the leadingTechnology Park in Malaysia” said Abdul Razak.Meanwhile, in the interim, MaGIC will be led by acting CEO Amiruddin Abdul Shukor. He is currentlysenior vice-president, finance and corporate services, at MaGIC, and will continue to implement theprogrammes planned for 2021. Amiruddin has been with MaGIC since 2015.
