‘Buy for Impact’ Month, a movement that aims to foster more corporate and public participation in building a sustainable social enterprise ecosystem and seeding innovative solutions for good. Its mission is to support the notion of generating sustainable positive social or environmental impact through social enterprises. The message of the campaign is simple –  When you Buy For Impact, it creates a positive change for the society.

This programme in partnership with :

  • Sabah Creative Economy and Innovation Centre initiative is responsible in pushing the agenda of innovation and creativity across all industries in Sabah. This initiative was approved by Sabah cabinet and is actively running capacity building programmes and partnership across Malaysia.
  • Sabah Techprenuer Association (SATA) adopted the word “Techpreneur” from the words Technology and Entrepreneur and purposely omitting “no” from the combination to add a more positive character in the name.As NGO, SATA first got involved with ICT month activities in Nov 2010 organised by the Ministry of Resource Development & Information Technology.

From here SATA moved forward by taking up the challenge in organizing an international event called the Startup Weekend Malaysia in May 2011 with less than a month preparation. With the support of the Ministry of Resource Development & Information Technology, SATA set a par as the first Startup Weekend with RM20,000 Startup Package for the best 3 ideas. Among the panel of judges for the event was the CEO of Friendster and shareholder of Facebook, Mr. Ganesh K. Bangah, and Mr. Andrew Wong the founder of MAD Incubators. This was the beginning of our own Sabah Got Ideas (SGI) program.

Although barely a year old, the National Incubator Network Association (NINA) entrusted SATA as the co-organizer of NINA 3rd Asia Pacific Conference on Business Incubation and Entrepreneurship & Asia Association of Business Incubators (AABI) 16th General Assembly which was held in Kota Kinabalu in July 2011.
