StoryMapping for Startups

Most startups focus on technology and product innovation, and they forget that innovation is a human experience. It is a transformative journey for the innovator – a process of disruption, obstacles, fears, pivoting and, too often, giving up. Startups think about costs - staffing cost, cost of capital, opportunity cost and production cost. But they almost never talk about the biggest cost – the emotional cost. StoryMapping introduces startups to tools that can turn emotional obstacles to innovative ideas. In this workshop, participants will participate in a series of rapid sprints like – “Who is in your Storyworld”, “The Idea may be a Lie”, “Fear as Data”, and “The Power of Opposite Thinking”. Founders will learn how to use emotions to quickly identify the blind spots of their idea and transform them into effective business strategy.Topic Overview on StoryMapping Fable: The Boy in the Juggle The Ritual: StoryWorld and How to Map the Status Quo Sprint Activity: Grab and Mapping the world before a Disruptive idea The Idea may be a Lie Sprint Activity: Identifying Agility of an Idea Fear as Data Sprint Activity: Airbnb and Listing Fears (what if everything goes wrong) The Power of Opposite Thinking Sprint Activity: Moving from Closed Mode to Open Mode; Finding False Fears What ifs Sprint Activity: How do you find Data for your What Ifs How to Turn What Ifs into a Business Idea or a Business Strategy Sprint Activity: How to Find the Right What If?
