Dr Melissa Foo is a global investor and portfolio manager; with a focus on impact investment ecosystem development and innovation. In 2013, she was based in New York to work on multiple early-stage deals in FinTech, Healthcare, Education, B2B, Real Estate Technology and Social Enterprise. She has also consulted for the Malaysian government on Ventures and Corporate Entrepreneurship (Ministry of Finance) and Social Innovation (Prime Minister’s Department - National Innovation Agency). Melissa received an MBA from Columbia Business School with a dual-concentration in Family Enterprise Management & Impact Investing. Additionally, she also serves on the board of her family healthcare company based in Malaysia. Prior to that, she obtained dental qualifications from the University of Melbourne and was attached to the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Department of Hospital Sungai Buloh, specialising in trauma and facial reconstruction. When she is not identifying the next big thing in impact and innovation, she is passionate about travel, meeting people, making connections and giving. Her philanthropic work with the family organisation serves underprivileged communities across Southeast Asia.
Co-Founder & Director, Ata Plus Elain is a Co-Founder and Director in Ata Plus, a Malaysian licensed Equity Crowdfunding platform. Upbeat and optimistic, she believes nothing is impossible and all challenges are just another form of opportunities. This proves to be the fuel in her 23-year career in the areas of management, business strategy, human resource, business development, relationship management, marketing and corporate communications. She has served notable organisations, namely Petronas, MDeC, Malaysia Debt Ventures, DiGi Telecommunications and Packet One Networks. She currently sits on the Board of Western Union Payments Malaysia and the Chairman of Western Union Internal Audit Committee, while being actively involved in the start-up community, advising entrepreneurs in funding, strategy and operations. Elain is instrumental in establishing Ata Plus’ partnerships, deal screening and operations framework. Elain graduated from the London School of Economics with a BSc in Actuarial Science and MSc in Operational Research.
Born and raised in Singapore, Rebekah has more than 20 years of investing and business experience, spanning across government, investment institutions and family offices. Rebekah graduated from the UK, US and also has the CFA and CAIA professional designations. With her education and experience, Rebekah also actively contributes to the broader investment and business community by volunteering at various organisations, such as BANSEA as the Vice-Chair of the Board, Singapore Institute of Directors (SID) as the Committee member for Diversity and International Relations. Rebekah is passionate about supporting women entrepreneurs and diversity in companies.
Surawat (Sam) Promyotin is Director of the Sustainability and Entrepreneurship Center at the Sasin School of Management, Executive Director of Bangkok Venture Club, Managing Director of the Sprint Accelerator, and former Board Member of the Thai Venture Capital Association. He has more than 20 years of experience as a high-technology executive in both Silicon Valley and Thailand. Along the way, he managed a $100M global semiconductor product line, Co-Founded Groupon Thailand, and won the global Sales Director award at a 27-country MNC. He has advised, taught, and mentored at startup accelerators such as Sprint, MedVentures, UTC, NSTDA DeepTech Accelerator, DVA, Spark, KMUTT Hatch, Plug N Play, Topica Founder Institute, DTAC Accelerate, True Incube, and MIST, and incorporate innovation projects at SCG, Toyota, Mitr Phol, Bank of Thailand, Kubota, PTT, TMB, Tesco Lotus, CIMB, and more. He graduated from UC Berkeley with a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and from Sasin Chulalongkorn Graduate Institute of Business Administration with an Executive MBA.
